Specifies requirements for carbon steel electrodes and low or intermediate alloy ferritic steel electrodes for gas metal arc welding. The weld metal classification system is consistent with that of AS 1858. It includes a method for the easy selection of the weld metal based on its mechanical properties, and additional information on electrodes is included in an appendix.
